Artist
Carol John
The artist Carol John once helmed a Cadillac through the streets of Dallas, a bona fide Rockabilly-vintage-dressed Texas resident. Destined to live in many lands, she today makes her studio in a former church in Athens, Georgia, where she paints circles every day, accumulating by the thousand on canvas and paper with a meditative hand and inquiring mind until they become greater than themselves. Her work is playful, layered with color and time, deceptively decorative, slyly feminine, and instantly recognizable. Most recently featured in the 2023 ‘New American Paintings’ summer issue, her work has been shown in Atlanta at the High Museum of Art and the Georgia Museum of Contemporary Art. She is a graduate of the School of Visual Arts in New York City.
